At New Destiny Family Success Center, our work is guided by a commitment to strengthening families through services and opportunities that promote resilience, connection, and growth. This reflects our mission to cultivate healthy families in support of positive child and adult development.
In March 2026, New Destiny FSC expanded its capacity to support families by strengthening its Parent Café leadership, becoming the only Family Success Center in a network of 59 Family Success Centers to become a Trainer in Parent Cafes. Parent Cafés are grounded in the Protective Factors framework: Parental Resilience, Social Connections, Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development, Concrete Support in Times of Need, and Social and Emotional Competence of Children. These factors help families build on their strengths, develop supportive relationships, and navigate day-to-day challenges. On March 3–4, 2026, 23 Family Success Center staff participated in a two-day Parent Café Host training. During the training, participants experienced a Parent Café firsthand and learned about the purpose, structure, and research behind the model as an effective family engagement and parent education tool. Staff also explored the Protective Factors in depth, learned how to create a welcoming and reflective Café environment, and practiced how to build and facilitate meaningful Café conversations.
This training marks an important step in increasing the availability of Parent Cafés for families across communities. Through this effort, New Destiny FSC can support staff, parents, and community members in creating safe spaces where families can share their experiences, build connections, and feel heard without judgment.
This success story highlights the impact of investing in family-centered strategies that strengthen resilience, deepen social connections, and create opportunities for families to access support in a safe and welcoming environment.
