New Destiny Family Success Center (NDFSC) collaborates with Paterson Public Schools at the Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Community School (School #6) and Eastside High School to create a supportive, student-focused learning environment. This collaboration ensures a holistic approach to education, fostering student achievement and family engagement.
Students gain access to free, meaningful extended learning opportunities.
Enriching youth development opportunities are essential for children to grow into well-rounded, successful adults. However, traditional school days often prioritize math and reading, leaving little room for enrichment and personal growth.
At New Destiny’s Full Service Community Schools (FSCS), community partners create diverse, engaging, and educational programs tailored to students’ interests. From photography clubs to mentoring and internships, these opportunities allow young people to explore their passions, develop new skills, and express their creativity. By providing these outlets, the school helps students grow into confident, highly skilled, and well-rounded individuals.
Expanding educational opportunities for children and youth requires reimagining the traditional school day. At School #6l and Eastside High School, ELO strategies are a fundamental component, using the school as a hub to extend learning beyond the classroom. This approach transforms the school into a model of expanded learning time and opportunities.
The school remains open late, on weekends, and throughout the summer, providing students and their families with vital academic and enrichment programs. With the support of community partners, these initiatives are designed to align with both academic and non-academic goals, ensuring that learning is accessible, engaging, and tailored to the needs of the community.
Parent and family involvement is essential to the success of children and youth. The Full Service Community Schools at School #6 and Eastside High School foster meaningful and lasting family engagement by empowering parents and providing a wide range of supportive resources.
These supports include programs such as parent leadership and parenting education, GED and English Language Learner (ELL) classes, food and clothing pantries, and opportunities for parents to take an active role in school decision-making. Some initiatives even integrate parents into community school staff roles.
