Go FAR Fathers’ Initiative

Go FAR Fathers’ Initiative – New Destiny Family Success Center, November 2025 Success Story.

Mr. L is a 53-year-old Paterson resident whose life reflects the ongoing challenge of reentry and the real possibility of transformation when consistency meets opportunity. Born and raised in Paterson, he spent more than 35 years cycling in and out of the criminal justice system. Today, he stands in a significantly different place—actively rebuilding his life, contributing to his community, and strengthening his identity as a father, leader, and business owner. Mr. L is a mentor, community advocate, author, publicist, entrepreneur, and the owner of Diamond Transportation. What distinguishes him is not simply the titles he holds, but the reliability and dedication he brings to every space he enters.

As a result of two chance meetings at two separate GO F.A.R. Fatherhood activities, Mr. L met John, the leader of Servant’s Heart Ministry.   They were both present in support roles—no long conversations, just consistent engagement and shared responsibility. From these two small interactions, something larger emerged. John invited Mr. L and a friend from the Go FAR program to visit the Servants’ Heart School. That visit led to a deeper professional conversation, and ultimately, Mr. L was able to contract his transportation company to support John’s organization — a significant step for someone rebuilding his economic stability and business foundation. One statement he shared captures the meaning of these moments: “Sometimes opportunity doesn’t arrive with applause… it arrives quietly, through the people who notice your consistency.”

WHAT THIS REPRESENTS FOR THE MEN WE SERVE

Mr. L’s journey reflects a fundamental principle of the Go FAR Fathers’ Initiative:

Consistency opens doors.

Relationships create pathways.

And when men are supported, they can rewrite the trajectory of their lives.

His story demonstrates what can happen when a man invests in his own growth, takes responsibility for his future, and remains open to the connections that community involvement naturally brings.
