In February, the New Destiny Family Success Center Full-Service Community School Program at Senator Frank Lautenberg School No. 6 hosted a Valentine’s Friendship Dance for students in Grades K–3. The event gave students a chance to have fun, celebrate friendship, and strengthen their connections with one another in a welcoming school environment.
A total of 198 students took part in a day filled with crafts, games, music, and dancing. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and excitement as students enjoyed spending time with their classmates and teachers.
This event was a meaningful example of the protective factor of Social Connections in action. By creating opportunities for students to build friendships and feel connected, the Friendship Dance helped promote a sense of belonging and support within the school community. Events like this remind us that when children feel connected to others, they are better able to thrive socially and emotionally.
Sometimes the simplest moments create the greatest impact, and this day was full of meaningful connections that students will remember.
